World Breastfeeding Week is held every year from August 1 to 7 in more than 170 countries to promote breastfeeding and improve the health of infants worldwide. Breastfeeding is the best way to provide newborns with the nutrients they need. The WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, followed by continued breastfeeding up to at least two years, together with appropriate complementary foods.
